ACCEPTS WITH PLEASURE REGRET

“It’s the same wedding no matter what table you’re at, right?”

Demoted from maid of honour duties at her oldest friend’s wedding after she is ingloriously dumped by the bride’s brother – and the best man – just two months prior to the big day, Eloise McGarry (Anna Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates Kendrick) is nevertheless determined to hold her head up high and still attend the reception. She begins to regret her decision, however, when she finds herself seated waaaay back at Table 19, near the toilets. A table populated by reluctantly-invited guests who really should have known to decline by RSVP.

Those beady-eyed, multi-coloured, Mr. Whippy-haired dolls from your youth (provided you were young in the 90s!) sing, dance and scrapbook their way to the big screen in this nauseatingly bright, bubbly and emotive celebration of all things HAPPY from Dreamworks Animation, Shrek Forever After director Mike Mitchell and co-director Walt Dohrn (a fellow Shrek franchise alum).

BROS BEFORE HO-LIDAYS

While still in the young, wild and hunky bracket of his 20s, former Wildcat warbler Zac Efron has oft been cast as the rebellious, self-destructive type – whether ruining his own relationship (That Awkward Moment), his neighbours’ sense of community spirit (Bad Neighbours, Sorority Rising) or his career (We Are Your Friends). As the titular Dave in his latest comedy, the charming Disney alum plays the (slightly) straighter sidekick to his “loser” brother, Mike (Adam Ice Age: Collision Course DeVine), more akin to his enabler role in the deplorable Bad Grandpa.
